Shimano XTR drivetrain 27 speed. 3x9 gear rapid fire gearshift. Frame-mounted single joint swinging arm for rear wheel. Hydraulic-fluid dampers adjustable on their outward stroke.
Some sources say this bike was available two sizes: 18-inch and 20-inch, while others say it came in three sizes, small, medium and large. I'm not sure which one this bike is, which measures 22.25" from center of seat post to center of stem, and 21" from center of cranks to top of seat post tube. However, that seat post tube has a (factory) slice and small 1/4"diameter hole about 1 inch down, and that small hole is 20" from the center of the cranks. And did I mention it folds for transport in any normal sized trunk? You remove the front wheel, turn the front forks 90 degrees, then fold the rear so that the rear wheel takes the place of where the front wheel used to be. This bike is no garage queen. Being around 20 years old, it's due for some service and TLC. The original Magura Louise hydraulic brakes do work, but are slow to return. I will include all the old original parts just in case you ever want to take it back to original / or get the old shock absorber serviced. The front telelever suspension mounting pivot points are normally covered by two round rubber caps.Due to age, they recently just fell off the bike. Literally I had this bike on my roof rack taking it to my local bike shop, and both were present and intact.
The original Continental Explorer Pro tires were ancient, so I replaced with brand new Schwalbe Impac TrailPac tires. Again, will include the old tires if you want them.My asking price is for as-is condition. I've got an appointment in the next few weeks to take in for service (yep, my bike shop is booked up that far out). After I spend the bucks, this bike will be ready to rock, and I'll either keep it, or my asking price will go up. Just testing the waters here to gauge if anyone out there is interested in this bike only for collectibility, and who doesn't intend to ride it.
