LARGE ANTIQUE VICTORIAN ENGLISH SILVER GOLD PASTE CRESCENT MOON BROOCH PIN c1850
A superb antique early-mid Victorian English, solid sterling silver crescent moon brooch; with rounded back, pale gold wash, gold pin and set with glittering graduated pastes. Each paste displays a distinct black spot, created to simulate the look of old cut diamonds. It dates from around 1850 if not earlier and is in excellent, fully wearable condition throughout, with a replaced pin and one paste is slightly lower than its neighbours. It weighs 13.7 grams and measures over 1 ½ inches in diameter. The final photo shows it with a US penny (1 cent) coin for scale, which measures 19 mm / ¾ of an inch diameter.
