Large Antique Silver Top Scent Perfume Bottle Cut To Clear Charles May Birm 1886

  

A VERY IMPRESSIVE LARGE ANTIQUE CUT GLASS AND SILVER TOP BLUE CUT TO CLEAR PERFUME SCENT BOTTLE BIRMINGHAM 1886 BY CHARLES MAY. This is a lovely scent bottle with a solid silver screw top. It measures 20 cms high and 10 cms at the widest point.

The glass is beautifully hobnail cut all around the bulbous sides with very intricate designs on the neck and it is very tactile. It is in excellent condition, no cracks or fractures to the body of this very attractive bottle.

The top screws tightly the neck is undamaged and retains the cork in the lid. The silverwork has no splits, repairs or holes only a few tiny indentations to the top cartouche area from use. There is a full set of silver hallmarks to the rim for Birmingham 1886 and the very prestigious makers mark of Charles May who produced a lot of this type of cut to clear perfume bottles. I have only lightly cleaned the silver for the photos. It stands well for display and would make a great addition to any good collection. Happy to answer any questions.
